第1問 和訳せよ。

  1. The coach urged the players who had lost confidence after the first half to stay calm until the final whistle.
  2. The sudden drop in temperature made the roads in the mountain village too dangerous to drive on safely.
  3. We found the explanation in the manual far more complicated than the instructor had led us to expect.
  4. The committee appointed Ms. Jackson, despite some objections from senior members, chair of the environmental review board.
  5. The accident left several passengers on the late-night bus unable to speak for a few minutes.

第2問 和訳せよ

   Although the manager had originally expected the new software to make the entire process more efficient, the frequent errors it produced led the staff to regard even routine tasks as unnecessarily stressful. In the end, the company appointed an outside consultant to examine the system and make it easier for employees to use.

第3問

   For most of the trial, the witness had answered the prosecutor’s questions calmly and had given the impression that his version of events was entirely consistent. However, the lawyer’s final question drove the witness, already shaken by two hours of cross-examination, to admit that he had concealed several important facts. That single admission afterward proved the earlier testimony unreliable and left the jury visibly uneasy.
